For the North American market, this model only saw one generation, but it was updated a handful of times to help keep things fresh. For the first few years of the life of the Encore, it was available in 4 trims. These trims were the Base, Convenience, Leather, and Premium trims. All of these trims came with the 1.4L I4 that could produce 128 horsepower. You'll be able to find these in FWD, and AWD versions.
When the 2016 hit the market, a new trim joined the lineup. This was the Sport Touring, and it came with 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, remote start, and even an Ecotec I4. This engine was rated at 153 horsepower, making it more powerful than the other trims before it.
If you're wanting your encore to be the best it can be, the 2018 model helped make that happen. When you find a model equipped with the Ecotec direct-injection engine package, your Encore gets outfitted with Stop/Start technology. This helps give you even greater fuel economy, giving you less time at the pump, and more time out with your family. This year you are able to get 30 combined MPG as tested by the EPA. If you're mainly driving in the city you’ll get 27 miles, while you'll get 33 on the highway.
2017 saw a change in name for trim levels. They are now the Base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence, and Premium. This year also brought a refresh that helped keep things up-to-date. Some of these new features were a 4.2-inch information screen, as well as a new 8-inch infotainment screen.
This year also saw the faux fender ports named “VentiPorts” get removed. These were on models from 2013 to 2016, and are part of Buick's traditional style, but they ultimately dropped it in favor of a sleeker design.
For 2020, Buick introduced the larger Encore GX. Building on the greatness that the regular Encore delivered. This was the last time we'd see it on the North American market. Instead of retiring it right away after the GX was introduced, the Encore had one last swansong before it left. The last available Encores were the Preferred trim level, only available in a handful of colors.
In 2022, the original Encore had gone, with no immediate successor, it finished that chapter for Buick. If you're wanting to get your hands on one, or any other used vehicle, then come see us here at Alan Jay, we're sure to have something for you.
