Being such a short-lived life as the MKC, it didn’t see too many changes in its only generation. This generation came with 5 trims they were the base model, Premiere, Select, Reserve, and the Black Label.
This model came with one of two engines, the first one being a 2.0L turbocharged I4, which produced 240 horsepower. The other engine was a 2.3L turbo four that was part of the Mustang, too. This engine put out even more horsepower, at 285.
While the 2.0L engine was the weaker of the two, it did come with better MPG, according to the EPA. This sat at 23 MPG combined, getting up to 27 miles per gallon on the highway and 20 in the city. The more powerful 2.3L saw less MPG, getting 20 MPG combined. Breaking down to 25 miles per gallon on the highway and 18 in the city.
For 2016, the MKC saw the MyLincoln Touch system dropped in favor of the SYNC 3 system. The Select trim now sees a power liftgate as a standard option, bringing even more luxury to more of the line. If you find a 2016 model that is equipped with the 2.3L engine, you can now tow up to 3,000 pounds for this year's model.
2017 saw some new features to help keep you and your passengers safe. This is an auto-hold feature that will prevent rollback when releasing the brake pedal. The power liftgate is now a standard feature across the lineup, regardless of trim level.
This model saw some praise from Car and Driver, with them noting that the vehicle had a “good ride and handling, a quiet cabin,” and is “loaded with standard features.” Lincoln was aiming to make this vehicle special, and it does seem like they’ve hit the mark.
Despite not seeing too many new features for 2018, it does see some change. The Lincoln Connect 4G Wi-Fi system is now standard on all trims, giving you an easy way to stay connected when on the road going on your next trip. With the higher-end models, you now have four-way power lumbar control. If you have a Select trim or higher, both front seats come with this feature.
When 2019 came around, it saw a facelift, dropping the split-wing grille in favor of a more corporate grille. While this was last year's model for the MKC, that’s not due to the vehicle selling well, it was due to Lincoln using a different naming scheme, ultimately becoming the Corsair.
