Are you looking for a new SUV? The 2023 GMC Acadia is roomy and comfortable. Our buying guide answers your questions.
No the GMC Acadia is not changing in 2023, the SUV will mostly carry over from the 2022 model year largely unchanged and with most of the vehicle remaining the same. The largest difference is the fact that the steering wheel in 2023 will receive a new wrap on all models except for the base trim. Beyond that the company has added three new paint colors, Volcanic Red tintcoat, Sterling Metallic, and Ultra Blue Metallic. Unfortunately these new colors do not come as standard on any trim and are an extra fee.
There are various trims that are available on the Acadia. The first being the SLE which starts around $38,200. It comes with an 8 inch infotainment screen, HD rear vision camera, LED headlamps, and various available packages. The next trim up is the SLT which starts at around $42,500 and comes with heated driver and passenger seats, a Bose sound system, and fancier available packages.
If you want the SLT we actually recommend going for the next level up which would be the AT4. It starts at around $44,800 (only $2000 more than the SLT) and comes with hill descent control, traction select, and an available heads up display. The Denali is quite often the fanciest trim on any GMC vehicle and this is the case for the Acadia as it starts around $49,500. This trim comes with a head up display, wireless charging, hands free power liftgate, and an available rear view mirror camera.
The GMC Acadia and the Chevrolet Traverse are two vehicles built off the same platform with the same engine, one truly is not better than the other. We believe that it largely comes down to brand preference and what you would want. What we recommend is choosing a day in your week to come out and test drive the two vehicles. Sit in them, and find out if you find a difference that you like.
In 2023 the main difference is that the Acadia has a base engine different from the Traverse which is a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine which makes 228 horsepower. The higher level Acadia trims have a V6 3.6 liter that makes for 310 horses, this engine comes as standard on the Traverse for a bit less money. The GMC is a bit pricier but offers more fancy features as standard or as options such as a heads up display.
No, the GMC Acadia in 2023 is not larger than the 2022 model year. The 2023 model year is the last model year before GMC gears up for a refresh for the SUV in 2024. As such this year is largely a maintenance year and very few things changed on the SUV as mentioned previously.
We are looking forward to the 2024 model year as the refresh should be very interesting and add new features to make the GMC more competitive in the market and more modern. Although the 2023 does not change largely from 2022, we always like to choose the newest model year as generally you will get more life out of the newest model year.
